USINPAC condemns bomb blast in Pune, India
2/20/2010 7:55:45 PM

USINPAC: Vigilance needed at sites frequented by foreigners!

February 15, 2010: Washington D.C. The U.S.-India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) condemned the bomb blast in German Bakery in Pune, India and extended its sympathy for the victims and the next of kin of those who lost their lives. German Bakery a popular spot in Pune was the target of an explosion which took the lives of 9 people and injured over 30 people. The spot is frequented by foreign tourists as well as local residents of Pune. It is in close vicinity of the Osho Ashram and The Chabad House, a Jewish centre in the city.

Sanjay Puri, the Chairman of USINPAC expressed his outrage at the targeting of innocent civilians and said "We whole heartedly condemn this cowardly act of terrorism and offer our support and prayers to the victims and the families. This incident shows that India needs to be vigilant towards locations frequented by foreigners since that seems to be the pattern of targets that is emerging after 26/11. The terrorists want to strike at the heart of what attracts the world to India, its vibrant democracy, pluralism and a dynamic economy. What these terrorists forget is the very thing they are trying to strike at is what is going to allow India to prevail in its fight against terror. USINPAC's commitment to support India and its people for those values stays more firm than ever"

About USINPAC: The U.S.-India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) is the political voice of 2.7 million Indian-Americans.
