“The USINPAC is the most effective and respected Indian-American organization in the world. As an Indian-American, I am grateful that such a group exists in the US to advocate on our community’s behalf. I am honored, humbled, and excited to receive support from USINPAC and I know that, with their assistance and guidance, there is no end to the potential for success in the Indian-American community. With USINPAC’s help, I know I will be elected the first Indian-American Mayor of the great town of Edison, NJ. I look forward to partnering with USINPAC in assistant other aspiring Indian-American candidates for many years to come.”
Dr. Sudhanshu Prasad, candidate for Mayor of Edison, has always focused on the important things: his family, his community, and public service.
Born in 1953 in Patna, India, Dr. Prasad began a career in a field he knew would make a difference in peoples’ lives. After completing medical school at the Ranchi Medical Institute, he came to the United States for his residency at OHSU in Portland, Oregon, and Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey. He was the chair of the Department of Medicine at John F. Kennedy Hospital in Edison from 2002 to 2005, and is currently a partner in a well-respected and successful private medical practice in Rahway, NJ.
Dr. Prasad has lived in Edison – the 5th largest municipality in the state of New Jersey – for over twenty years with his wife Surabhi, also a doctor, and has two wonderful children: Supriya, age 24, and Sumeet, age 18, who both attended Edison schools and are now in university.
Dr. Prasad is currently serving his sixth year representing the people of Edison on the town Council. As councilman, he worked behind the scenes to awaken his colleagues to the depth of divisions between police and fire departments with the administration, and more importantly to take action they did not want to take. Dr. Prasad has been outspoken in his support of the right to private property, and vocal in his opposition to the abuse of eminent domain.
Dr. Prasad is endorsed by the Teamsters Joint Council 73, which calls him and his team “all with strong labor beliefs for the working men and women in Edison.” The Teamsters Joint Council 73, represents over 55,000 working men, women and families. Dr. Prasad is also endorsed by Executive Committee of NJPIO, New Jersey Physicians of Indian Origin. He is running on Column E on Election Day, November 5th, along with a dynamic slate of Assembly and Council candidates.
As Mayor, Dr. Prasad will build consensus and bring respect back into government, will improve our infrastructure and emergency readiness, will revitalize our local economy, and will bring businesses and jobs back to Edison. Dr. Prasad is the strong leader and visionary thinker that Edison needs and deserves.
