Washington DC. May 5, 2010. On behalf of 2.7 million Indian Americans, U.S.-India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) strongly denounces the offensive and divisive political advertisement by the organization Americans for Job Security (AJS). The unfortunate ad being aired during the Arkansas Democratic Primary race, as well as a similar campaign mailing by Friends of Blanche Lincoln, demean Americans of Indian descent and misrepresent global commerce that is vital for American jobs and prosperity. USINPAC urges AJS as well as the supporters of Senator Lincoln to halt their negative and hateful messages immediately.

"These are tough economic times which have resulted in a heated and contentious political debate. But as President Obama has stated several times, words do matter. We hope the Senate aspirants of his party pay heed to his message" advised Sanjay Puri, Chairman of USINPAC.

"The ugly caricature of Indians in the ad is an insult to all Americans, and comes at a delicate time when it is in our interest in the USA to forge strong bonds with India to thwart threats to our national security from Asia" said Kersy Dastur, Senior Advisor to USINPAC and co author of U.S. National Security and US-India Strategic Relations.

USINPAC celebrates the substantial contributions of the Indian American community in creating sustainable jobs as well as industry leadership in America. We believe that well paying and lasting American jobs are created through harnessing the indomitable American spirit of ingenuity to constantly reinvent the way businesses operate. America maintains its global edge by doing this better than any other economy in the world.

Negative and divisive messages harm the unity in diversity that is the foundation of America. USINPAC urges Americans for Job Security to remove its harmful ad immediately, and calls on Friends of Blanche Lincoln to stop distributing similarly themed campaign mailings.
