US - Pak Nuclear Deal Not Even on Horizon – Says USINPAC

US - Pak Nuclear Deal

Washington, DC: As Pakistan Premier Nawaz Sharif visits the United States, and holds meetings with US leadership, including with President Obama, there have been reports in US media that a US-Pakistan deal on military and civil nuclear matters may be under discussion.

“It is absurd to think that the United States shall enter into an arrangement to bolster Pakistan’s nuclear weapon capacity – the United States will never tolerate any country or region that proliferates weapons of mass destruction” said Sanjay Puri, Chairman of US India Political Action Committee (USINPAC).

USINPAC also stated that it has held discussions with several and senior US Congressmen on this matter. The Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Congressman Ed Royce said a US-Pakistan nuclear deal is a non-starter.

“The United States and global community very well realize that Pakistan or its agents have illegally proliferated nuclear weapons and missiles to Iran, Libya, North Korea and other rogue nations. Pakistan is almost a failed state – it needs economic not nuclear assistance”, said Robinder Sachdev, Director India Affairs of USINPAC.

The US India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) is the voice of over 3.2 million Indian- Americans and works on issues that concern the community. It supports candidates for local, state and federal office and encourages political participation by the Indian- American community. Visit www.usinpac.com for more details.
