Indian-American Nitin Kotak is one those NRI achievers whose name is worth mentioning. The 53-year old has been elected as the vice president and chief financial officer of Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Prior to this, Kotak was working as the chief financial officer and treasurer at Technest Holdings in Bethesda.

Well done, Mr. Nitin Kotak! It is indeed a great honor to have been assigned such a great responsibility in an esteemed organization like the HHMI which is reputed for advancing scientific research and education in the US. The outstanding institute had made disbursements worth $889 million in 2010.

Indeed very exemplary. Now, only if Indians followed and implemented the same practice in India also. Instead of relying on corruptive methods, people should rise above caste, creed, connections and religion and assign seats and positions, solely based on merit. Then only, India will progress.

Good going, Nitin Kotak. His career boasts credentials such as Tinplate Company of India- a Tata group which helped him launch his career on the right foot. He has worked with other prestigious firms like ITC Limited and Mattel Toys. Later in 2003, he relocated to the U.S. where he was employed as director of finance and accounting for Able Laboratories, Inc. Subsequently, after a year, he became the company’s vice president for finance and accounting. In 2005, he joined Technest as vice president for finance and operations and was promoted as the chief financial officer and treasurer in 2008.
