Afghan President's brother Ahmed Wali Karzai was gunned down by his own bodyguard in his house. AWK as he was popularly known was a very controversial figure in Afghanistan and was labelled as opium trader and CIA stooge. Being the head of Kandahar Provincial Council, Wali karzai was a very prominent figure and strongman in the Taliban heartland of Kandahar. His assassination which coincided with the French President's visit to Afghanistan sends out strong signals to the world.

Assassination of such a high profile figure in Afghanistan is an indication for the U.S. to not withdraw their forces from Afghanistan in such a hurry. Just because Osama is dead doesnt mean that Taliban is dead and their job is not over yet. Unless Afghanistan has a string army and Government, U.S. should not leave the country n such a hurry

Very true. Civilian life has not come back to normal yet. If such an influential man can get killed then there is no guarantee of a common man's life. Afghanistan really needs a strong support from the powerful nations of the world to complete wipe out insurgency and terrorism from its oil
