Peter Burleigh who is the interim ambassador to India after Tim Roemer left, is likely to be confirmed as the ambassador by the U.S. senate. given Burleigh's years of experience working in the UN and also in the South Asia, he is proposed to play a vital role in bridging the gap between India and U.S. further. But is he really the right choice in the current scenario?

Mr Burleigh has a lot of experience with the South Asian situation. He can also speak the Indian languages quite fluently. In the long run, he will really prove to be very useful in ironing out the differences between India and U.S. created due to visa issues, nuclear treaties, involvement in Af-Pak region etc.

After India getting its new American ambassador, now its U.S. which has got a new Indian ambassador in Nirupama Rao. Rao who is a 1973-batch IFS officer, has a vast experience of working on international diplomatic relations and has been to the U.S. before as a junior diplomat. Her appointment has been received warmly from several quarters and one can only hope that this will further boost the Indo U.S. diplomatic ties.
