With a strong belief in civic responsibility, Yatin "Tony" N. Patel has spent his entire life dedicated towards helping others improve their lives and achieve their dreams. As an Architect, he has built a successful practice serving as Managing Partner of Newport Design Group, a firm specializing in hospitality and commercial projects nationwide.
With a few dollars and a pocketful of dreams, Tony’s parents immigrated to the US in the 1960’s from a small village in India. As the family embarked on a journey across the US in search of opportunities while building various businesses, Tony learned first hand the importance of service and strong work ethics while stocking shelves in the family grocery store in San Bruno, California; painting rental homes in Tucson, Arizona; or managing their hotel in Carrollton, Georgia. It is this work ethic that Tony plans to take to the Georgia General Assembly as he tackles the important issues facing his state - education, health care, fiscal responsibility.
Tony's civic involvement has included volunteer services ranging from spearheading tours for senior citizens, outreach services with police departments, team building events with disadvantaged youth and working with local officials in finding better use of underutilized governmental buildings earning him two awards for community service from the City of Tucson City Managers Office.
Today, with thriving businesses in retail, real estate, hospitality and professional services, Tony still continues to serve the community. More recently, he volunteered his time as a Junior Achievement Instructor by visiting local schools to teach economics to 7th graders and spent the last several years providing the resources of his firm to assist in the design and construction of the Shree Swami Narayan Mandir and Cultural Complex in Lilburn, Georgia.
Through his involvement with Junior Achievement students, working with the elderly at managed care facilities, and assisting in various community based projects, Tony has seen first hand how short sighted legislation can impact our neighbors and hard working families. Policies that do not learn from the past or nurture the future have a direct impact on those who work hard everyday so their family can have a brighter future.
Next year, we have an opportunity to elect a new State Representative to the Georgia General Assembly and play our part in deciding how we want to be governed and how our tax dollars are spent. Our great state needs leaders who will step up to the plate, listen to our concerns and work everyday to improve the lives of our citizens.
Just as he has done his entire life, Tony Patel believes in hard work, being prepared for future opportunities and being fiscally responsible for a better tomorrow. As he runs for State Representative, Tony Patel is once again dedicating himself to helping others and being a voice for the entire community. Educational excellence, health care for all and better stewardship of our tax dollars is at the core of his campaign.
