Bio

Supriya Christopher brings over a decade of national experience in media and public relations in both the corporate and non-profit sectors.  Supriya began her career in broadcasting as an anchor with USA Today in Washington, DC, where she conducted numerous interviews with members of Congress and agency heads. She then moved on to anchor the nightly news broadcast at WTOK-TV Channel 11 (ABC) in Meridian, Mississippi.

After moving to Virginia, Supriya served as Media and Communication Coordinator for Virginia Beach, the largest municipality in the Commonwealth. She continued her work in front of the camera, anchoring Virginia Beach Television’s Newscan, a weekly talk show on local government. While with the City, she was the recipient of the prestigious City Manager’s Award, given annually for exceptional performance and creative thinking in public service.

Supriya received her undergraduate degree in communications with a concentration in journalism from Seton Hall University. She went on obtain her Master’s Degree in media writing from Johns Hopkins University. She is a published author whose work has been in the Mass Ave Review and Times of Our Lives Anthology. While studying at Seton Hall, she received leadership training in the R.O.T.C program and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.

A leader in her community, Supriya founded Christopher Corporate Communications, a public relations firm dedicated to helping small business develop first class communication strategies. She has served in numerous positions, most notably as Past President of the Oceana Officer Spouses Club, where she was a vocal advocate for military families. She is currently fulfilling a term on the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation, an appointment that she received from Governor Mark Warner.  In 2005, she undertook a run for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates in one of the most closely watched and expensive races in the Commonwealth.
