Born in Chicago and raised in Maywood, Illinois, Paul graduated from Proviso East High School in 1993. Paul leads a productive career as an educator, community organizer, attorney, and advocate for human rights. He has received several awards and citations for outstanding work in the areas of volunteerism and advocacy. Paul is a candidate for Illinois State Representative in Illinois' 26th District. United States Air Force
Paul honorably served on active duty in the United States Air Force and the United States Air Force Reserves from 1993-1999. As a Non-Commissioned Officer, Paul learned lessons about integrity, discipline, attention to detail, and how small groups of motivated people can work together to achieve positive change. While on active duty, Paul created Airmen Against Drunk Driving (AADD), a community and base-supported organization that dramatically reduced the number of DWI/DUI Incidents through education, awareness and support programs. Over the years, AADD has expanded to a number of Air Force Bases throughout the country.
College and Law School
Paul graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science in 1999. Paul received his Juris Doctorate from Northwestern University School of Law (NUSL) in 2002. Since 2005, Paul has taught Negotiations as an Adjunct Professor at NUSL.
Family
Paul married his sweetheart Ada Dolph in 2006. Paul also receives a tremendous amount of support from his parents, two sisters, Sarah and Gina, as well as from aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and many others.
Experience
Paul is an attorney in Chicago, his practice is in the field of corporate law and structuring complex transactions; however he has an extensive legal portfolio of community service, including: assisting women who have been raped or battered, assisting a theatre company with licensing/legal issues during a rebuild, as well as achieving political asylum for two Congolese brothers who were brutally tortured by their government. During law school Paul served on the executive committee of NUSL's Black Law Student's Association as well as the South Asian Law Student's Association.
Since graduating from law school, Paul became President of the Board of Directors of the Awassa Children's Project, an Illinois non-profit organization which supports the housing, education and community involvement of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. Under Paul's leadership, the orphanage supported by Awassa Children's Project has rapidly expanded to caring for and educating over 60 children, opened a computer/vocational training school for over 100 students who can't afford other education, and has opened the community's first-ever youth campus, which hosts tutoring, art classes, sports and other activities for over 100 youth each day. Paul has traveled extensively throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, and Australia. Over the years Paul has served on a number of community boards in the Chicagoland area.
